The purpose of this program is to drive equitable access in youth sports and physical activity by supporting children in high-need communities to achieve their greatest potential on the field and in life. Rather than providing monetary awards, this program will provide eligible organizations, including schools, access to an online catalog of available sports equipment in which award recipients may request donations of brand new sports equipment, apparel, and footwear that meet their top needs. This program is intended to help youth-serving programs by:

• Increasing the total amount of youth participants
• Enhancing the experience for all young people involved
• Creating new opportunities in physical activity for kids served

Good Sports: Equipment Donation

The council invites applications for its classroom research grant preK-6. Through the program, grants of up to $6,000 will be awarded to support classroom-based research in precollege mathematics education in collaboration with college or university mathematics educators. The research must be a collaborative effort involving a college or university mathematics educator (a mathematics education researcher or a teacher of mathematics learning, teaching, or curriculum) and one or more grades preK-6 classroom teachers. The proposal may include but is not restricted to research on the following topics: curriculum development and implementation, involvement of at-risk students or students from diverse backgrounds and experiences, students thinking about a particular mathematics concept or set of concepts, the connection of mathematics to other disciplines, focused learning and teaching of mathematics with embedded use of technology, and innovative assessment or evaluation strategies.

Eligibility: Mathematics educators or classroom teachers currently teaching mathematics at the grades preK-6 level.

• Consumer-focused, community-based initiatives that empower people with disabilities and foster independence and self-sufficiency
• The rehabilitation and reintegration of veterans, especially veterans with disabilities
• Helping seniors to age in the place of their choice through non-institutional, community-based health and social services
• Market-oriented, patient-centered health care reforms across the country
